Dilation will alllow the doctor to check the overall health of the back of the eye monitoring the optic nerve, macula and retinal health. A refraction determines a patient's visual acuity and diagnoses whether correction with lenses will help improve ones vision. In addition, an individual can choose to have a contact lens fitting as another option for their vision correction.
